John Paul Shemack: Dec. 18, 1948-July 22, 2026

John Paul Shemack, 77, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on July 22, 2026, surrounded by his family.

John was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Frank and Isabelle Shemack, and his siblings, Mary and Francis.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Terry, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. He also leaves behind his cherished children, Shawn Shemack, Kristi Shemack-Krough, and Elizabeth Hubbard, and his beloved grandchildren, Lidien Hubbard and Zanith Hubbard, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.

John worked for the post office in the Vehicle Maintenance Facility in New York City.  He worked as a manager for 35 years and was dedicated to his job and his workers. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and pets in their camper. 

John will be remembered as a man who could fix just about anything. If something was broken, family and friends knew he was the one to call. His quick wit, unmistakable sense of humor, and knack for making people laugh will forever be remembered. He had a way of turning ordinary moments into lasting memories, often with a joke, a story. “If I can’t get a laugh out of the day, its not worth getting out of bed.”

More than anything, John loved his family. He found his greatest happiness at home, surrounded by those he loved most. His strength, kindness, and unwavering presence touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the countless memories he created will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

John was deeply loved, and he will be profoundly missed every day. While we grieve his loss, we find comfort in knowing his legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will continue through those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held from 5-6 PM, followed by the Rosary at 6 PM, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Mass will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow at 2:15 PM, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
