Schreiner snaps losing streak with 70-57 victory over LeTourneau

Brie Sosa scored 21 points to lead Schreiner to a 70-57 victory over LeTourneau on Thursday night, snapping a six-game losing streak.

Lynnashia Brooks added 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting for Schreiner, which used a strong second quarter to take control. After leading just 9-7 after one period, the Mountaineers outscored LeTourneau 25-18 in the second quarter to build a 34-25 halftime advantage.

Schreiner extended the lead to 21 points in the third quarter before holding off a late rally by the YellowJackets. Nevaeh Gray contributed six points and a game-high six assists for the Mountaineers, who held a 19-7 advantage in second-chance points.

Kylie Weeks led LeTourneau (4-8, 1-2 SCAC) with 17 points, making 13 of 17 free throws. Kaylin Cervantes added 11 points off the bench.

Sosa finished 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and added three rebounds and five assists in the victory.
