Snow, Hyman Lead Schreiner Past LeTourneau 93-88 in SCAC Showdown

The Mountaineers improved to 3-0 in SCAC Gold Division action and 6-7 overall, while the YellowJackets dropped to 2-1 in conference play and 7-5 on the season.

Dylan Snow scored 19 points and Camden Hyman added 18 as Schreiner University defeated LeTourneau 93-88 on Friday night to remain undefeated in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Mountaineers improved to 3-0 in SCAC Gold Division action and 6-7 overall, while the YellowJackets dropped to 2-1 in conference play and 7-5 on the season.

Hyman was especially efficient from beyond the arc, connecting on 5 of 8 three-point attempts in 13 minutes off the bench. He also added three assists and went 3-for-4 from the free-throw line. Snow went 8-for-11 at the charity stripe and added three assists, while Justin Gooden contributed 16 points despite shooting struggles, going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Mason McGowan finished with 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting from three-point range, and Mario Johnson pulled down a team-high seven rebounds to go with nine points and four assists. Carson Diamond added seven points and four rebounds, while Noah Drenth provided six points and four rebounds off the bench.

The game was tightly contested throughout, with seven ties and 12 lead changes. Schreiner held a slim 42-41 advantage at halftime after a late basket by Gooden. The Mountaineers shot 44.8 percent from the field (30-of-67), including 30.3 percent from three-point range (10-of-33), and 74.2 percent from the free-throw line (23-of-31).

LeTourneau was led by Logan Brinkoeter, who recorded a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting. Cooper Smith came off the bench to add 20 points and eight rebounds, while Jackson Mayes contributed 17 points. The YellowJackets shot 42.0 percent from the floor (29-of-69), 25.0 percent from three-point territory (6-of-24), and 80.0 percent from the line (24-of-30).

Schreiner outscored LeTourneau 32-31 from the bench and held a 36-44 advantage in points in the paint. The Mountaineers also recorded 21 fast-break points compared to 16 for the visitors.

A crowd of 175 watched the game at Stephens Family Arena.

Schreiner returns to action Sunday when it hosts Centenary (La.) at noon in another SCAC Gold Division matchup.
