The week opens light, with two outreach events and two wellness offerings anchoring the day. The Light on the Hill hosts the Mustard Seed Food Pantry from 9 to 10 a.m., and the Doyle Community Center holds a Community Open House at 2 p.m. featuring resources from Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid. On the wellness side, Rick Trzcinski’s Veterans Yoga Project session at the Kerrville Elks Lodge remains free for veterans every Monday at 3 p.m. Two winery events close out the evening, including Monday Mingle at Turtle Creek Vineyard with music from Matthew James Butler.

Tuesday, Aug. 18

A lighter day built around clubs, meetings and live music. Third Tuesday Art Talks at Hill Country Atelier brings TXHCA instructor Rebecca Burritt in at 4:30 p.m. to unpack what makes artwork feel timeless — open to artists and non-artists alike. Live music picks up in the evening with Heartbreak Outlaws at The Inn Pub and Jesse Owen Band at Gravity Check Saloon, both at 6 p.m., while Trivia Night at True Texas BBQ rounds out the night at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 19

The busiest midweek day, spanning science, library programming, outreach and wine events. Riverside Nature Center runs both the Wildflower Bunch at 10 a.m. and an NEd Talk on the New World screwworm at 1 p.m. — timely given the pest’s spread concerns statewide. The Hill Country Veterans Center’s Veterans Food Bank offers food, haircuts and clothing from 1 to 4 p.m. for those with valid Texas ID and proof of military service. Peterson Health hosts a Cardiac Support Group at 4:30 p.m. On the food and wine side, La Calabria in Comfort runs a Summer on the Amalfi Coast dinner at 5 p.m., and Turtle Creek Olives and Vines offers a curated wine experience at 5:30 p.m., free for members and $20 for nonmembers.

Thursday, Aug. 20

Games and live music dominate. The Arcadia Live Theater’s Third Thirsty Thursday Trivia at 6:30 p.m. comes with free entry, prizes and Pint & Plow pizza plus two appetizers per team if ordered at RSVP — teams up to six. Peterson Health also runs a strength training session for older adults at the Dietert Center at 10 a.m., and the library brings in Alamo Workforce Solutions to connect young adults ages 16-24 with job resources at 3 p.m. Four separate live music acts play across town in the evening.

Friday, Aug. 21

The heaviest live-music night of the week, with 10 acts across town — from In Six Days at Pint & Plow to Vanishing Bees at Pier 27. The Brownstone Bandera Supper Club at Sovereignty Ranch offers a foodie option at 5 p.m., and Kerrville Comedy 2Nite closes the night at Lazy Days Canteen at Roddy Tree at 8 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 22

The biggest day on the calendar by volume, touching nearly every category. Two farmers markets — Hill Country Heritage and Heart of the Hills — run simultaneously from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., while Sovereignty Ranch stretches its End of Summer Celebration & Ice Cream Social across the full day, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Museum of Western Art opens its “The Enchanted West” exhibition with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Riverside Rangers gives junior naturalists ages 8-12 a hands-on science and art session from 10 a.m. to noon (registration required). The National Museum of the Pacific War runs an Outpost Series program on Soviet-Japan border battles from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Live music runs nine acts deep into the night, and Crider’s Rodeo and Dance caps the week with its cafe opening at 6:30 p.m., rodeo at 8 p.m. and dance following at 9 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 23

A quieter close with four live music acts, led by the Junior Pruneda Open Jam Brunch at Lazy Days Canteen at Roddy Tree running 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

By the numbers: Live music leads the week with more than 20 individual acts across seven venues. Outreach and wellness programming — food pantries, veteran services, support groups — appear on four of the seven days. Saturday alone accounts for roughly a quarter of the week’s total listings.
