Edward Earl Ferguson was born on April 4, 1940, and passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife Susan Ferguson and family. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Edward proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life he carried with honor throughout his years. His service reflected his dedication, discipline, and commitment to something greater than himself.

He was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and someone whose presence left a lasting impression on those around him. Edward will be remembered for his kindness, the moments he shared, and the love he gave so freely.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Nora Ferguson; his son, Wade Ferguson; and his brothers, Franklin Ferguson, Carol Ferguson, and Raymond Ferguson.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Susan Sublett Ferguson; his sons, Patrick Ferguson (wife Velma), John Earl Ferguson (wife Becky), and Christopher Ferguson (wife Michelle); and his daughters, Katherine Piersol, Josanna Ferguson, and Bonnie Ferguson-Lanik (husband Lance Lamay); his sister, Shirley Shoemake (husband David). He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 6 great grand children ,extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

Though his absence leaves a deep void, his life and legacy will continue to bring comfort and strength to those who loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love and gratitude.

Growing up in Southern California, Louis Amestoy remained connected to Texas as the birthplace of his father and grandfather. Texas was always a presence in the family’s life. Amestoy’s great-grandparents settled in San Antonio, Texas, drawn by the city’s connections to Mexico and the region’s German communities. In 2019, Louis Amestoy saw an opportunity to make a home in Texas. After 30 years of working for corporate media chains, Louis Amestoy saw a chance to establish an independent voice in the Texas Hill Country. He launched The Lead to be that vehicle. With investment from Meta, Amestoy began independently publishing on Aug. 9, 2021. The Amestoys have called Kerrville home since 2019.
