Kerr County gas now averaging $4.21; prices climb for third straight day

A year ago, Texans were paying an average of $2.76 per gallon, a roughly $1.28-per-gallon difference from today.

Gas prices in Kerr County rose again Wednesday to an average of $4.21 per gallon for regular unleaded, continuing a three-day surge that has added more than 24 cents to the local average since Monday.

Nationally, the average hit $4.54 per gallon Wednesday — with California leading all states at $6.16 and Mississippi posting the lowest average at $3.97. Kerr County’s $4.21 sits above the Texas statewide average of $4.04 but remains below the national figure.

The Texas average crossed $4 per gallon for the first time this year, according to AAA — up 6 cents from Tuesday and 26 cents from one week ago. A year ago, Texans were paying an average of $2.76 per gallon, a roughly $1.28-per-gallon difference from today.

Diesel is climbing as well. The statewide average hit $5.14 per gallon Wednesday, with Kerr County stations running around $5.15. Diesel set an all-time recorded high of $5.37 per gallon in Texas just last month, on April 9.

For context, Texas’s all-time high for regular unleaded was $4.70, set June 15, 2022. Wednesday’s average remains about 65 cents below that record.

Mid-grade is averaging $4.50 statewide and premium $4.87, per AAA.
