Maria Guadalupe Silvas, 72, of Kerrville, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the peace she so deeply deserved. Guadalupe was born on December 14, 1953, in Stonewall, Texas, to Henry T. Real and Dolores S. Rodriguez.
On February 14, 1971, she married the love of her life, Jesús Carabajal Silvas. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to love and devotion, and they shared 26 wonderful years together before his passing. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love as they raised their three children: Roy Dean Silvas, Jesús Estevan Silvas, and Norma Jean Padilla. Raised in a large family alongside her eight siblings, Guadalupe dedicated her life to caring for others. She was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy was creating a warm and welcoming home for those she loved. She also spent many years as a caregiver, compassionately serving others with the same kindness and patience that defined her own life. Guadalupe found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved coloring, playing bingo and Sudoku, taking scenic drives through the beautiful Texas Hill Country, and spending precious time with her family. She especially enjoyed preparing homemade meals and treats from scratch, pouring love into everything she made. She treasured her rings, jewelry, and little knickknacks, each one bringing her joy. To know Guadalupe was to love her. She never met a stranger and always welcomed everyone with a warm smile, an open heart, and a story to share. Her home was a place of comfort where family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers felt like they belonged. She was thoughtful, generous, selfless, and beautiful inside and out. Her greatest accomplishment and deepest pride was her family. After a courageous battle with illness, Guadalupe found peace and was reunited with those who had gone before her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry T. Real and Dolores S. Rodriguez; her beloved husband, Jesús Carabajal Silvas; her cherished son, Jesús Estevan Silvas; and one beloved sibling. Her legacy of love continues through her children, Roy Dean Silvas and Norma Jean and Juan Carlos Padilla; her six cherished grandchildren, Adrian and Colby Medran, Whitney and Taylor Medran, Sadie and Daniel Ybarra, Ashley and Jeremy Castillo, Bekka Silvas, and Maria Padilla; her six adored great-grandchildren; seven loving siblings; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives she touched.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on 6:00 PM, Saturday, June 27, 2026. A funeral service celebrating Guadalupe’s life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Kerrville Funeral Home with a reception immediately following at KC Hall, 115 Doris Drive, Kerrville, Texas 78028. At a later date, when her cremated remains are returned, Guadalupe will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Mountain View Cemetery, 1168 Sidney Baker Street, Kerrville, Texas, fulfilling the wish that they would one day rest together again.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Guadalupe’s love, kindness, laughter, and unwavering strength will remain with us forever. Her memory will live on in every family gathering, every homemade meal, every shared story, and every smile she inspired. Until we meet again… Que te portes bien.
