Minneapolis-based singer and songwriter Chasity Brown moved many in the audience to tears with her song dedicated to Renee Good, who was shot and killed on Jan. 7, 2026, by a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement Officer. Brown was the second act on Friday night during the second weekend of the Kerrville Folk Festival. She pulls from blues, gospel and Americana and a voice that tends to command a room. Brown is known for emotionally direct songwriting and a stage presence that makes her a natural fit for the Quiet Valley Ranch crowd.
