Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for Kerr County through midnight

A watch differs from a warning — a warning means severe weather is imminent or occurring and immediate action is required.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Kerr County and much of the surrounding Hill Country, effective until midnight Sunday night.

The watch covers 29 Texas counties, including Bandera, Blanco, Burnet, Comal, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Llano, Real and Travis counties, as well as the San Antonio metro area counties of Bexar, Atascosa, Guadalupe, Medina and Wilson.

A watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to develop. Residents should remain weather-aware Sunday evening as a cold front pushes through the Hill Country between 7 and 11 p.m. The main threats are damaging wind gusts that could exceed 75 mph and large hail. Heavy rainfall is also possible.

A watch differs from a warning — a warning means severe weather is imminent or occurring and immediate action is required.

Kerr County falls under an Enhanced risk — Level 3 of 5 — for severe thunderstorms. Residents should have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, monitor local conditions closely and be prepared to shelter immediately if a warning is issued.
