Susan Pressler Smith: Nov. 11, 1951-June 22, 2026

Susan Pressler Smith, born November 11, 1951, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, and devotion to family and community.

Susan was the daughter of the late Hilmar and Emilie Pressler. She is survived by her children, Michael Smith and Ashley Tucker; her cherished three grandchildren; her sister, Carlynn Benedict; and numerous cousins, nieces, and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Devaney.

A dedicated dental hygienist, Susan touched the lives of many patients with her gentle and caring approach. She retired in 2012 from the Kerrville Veterans Affairs Medical Center after decades of devoted service.

Music was a lifelong passion for Susan. She played both the piano and organ, sharing her talent with her community through her service as an organist at Zion Lutheran Church of Kerrville and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Kerrville, where she played for over 20 years.

Susan loved nature and the outdoors, often spending time watching deer and appreciating wildlife. Above all, she cherished her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. She delighted in playing with them, sharing their laughter, and creating treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her caring and loving nature extended to all aspects of her life, and she was a devoted mother who gave everything she had to raise her children.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service celebrating Susan’s life will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Kerrville, Texas. Family and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
