Week ahead brings film screening, political meet-and-greet, theater opening
The week begins Monday with a screening of “Voices of Doyle” at 6 p.m. at the Doyle Community Center.
Kerr County residents will have opportunities this week to watch a documentary about a local community, meet a congressional candidate and attend the opening night of a new play exploring economic hardship.

On Wednesday, Mark Teixeira will host a meet-and-greet at 4 p.m. at the Comanche Trace Vista Room.
The VK Garage Theater will open its production of “Sweat” on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The play follows lifelong friends whose relationships fracture under economic insecurity and explores themes of hard work and community resilience. The production continues through the weekend.
Tuesday will feature a meeting of the Hill Country Chapter of Texas Democratic Women at 11:15 a.m. at 125 Lehman Drive. Karl Schmalz of Braver Angels will speak. The meeting is open to all.
Weekend activities include farmers markets Saturday morning at two locations: the Hill Country Heritage Farmers Market at 301 Junction Highway and the Heart of the Hills Farmers Market at 741 Water St. Both run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Hill Country Youth Event Center will host the Someone Special Dance at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Sunday’s schedule includes Super Bowl watch parties at the Doyle Community Center at 4 p.m. and Tailchasers at 5 p.m.
Throughout the week, Schreiner University will host multiple athletic events, and the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library will offer programming including story times, book clubs and a meditative sound bath Friday at 5 p.m.
