Storms moving through Kerrville now; wind gusts up to 50 mph possible

Strong thunderstorms are moving through Kerrville and southeastern Kerr County tonight, the National Weather Service reported at 7:21 p.m.
Doppler radar showed a line of storms stretching from near Horseshoe Bay to near Utopia, moving east at 20 mph. The storms are expected to clear the area by approximately 8:15 p.m.
Hazards include wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny-size hail. Forecasters also warn that torrential rainfall is occurring with the storms and could cause localized flooding.
Residents should stay indoors until the storms pass. Do not drive through flooded roadways. Lightning is occurring with the storms and can strike up to 10 miles from a storm cell.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for Kerr County until 9 p.m. The Flood Watch issued earlier today remains in effect through Wednesday morning.
