Two days away: join us Friday to celebrate Kerr County’s women of distinction

This is a night to come together, raise a glass, and say thank you to women who have given so much of themselves to this place we all call home. We’d love to see you there.

Friday evening, the Kerr County Lead gathers at Tucker Hall to do something we have been looking forward to since we launched this event — celebrate the remarkable women who make Kerr County the special place it is.

The inaugural Women of Distinction event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tucker Hall, 320 St. Peter St., Kerrville. Tickets are $42.50 and include food and beverages. Grab yours now before they’re gone.

This year’s honorees were selected from 70 nominated women represented by more than 90 submissions — a number that tells you everything you need to know about the depth of talent and service in this community. Choosing just 25 was one of the hardest things we’ve done.

Thursday night, we honor:

Tara Bushnoe • Mary Campana • Julie Davis • Amy Dozier • Becky Etzler • Judy Eychner • Kayte Graham • Diane Green • Luci Harmon • Kathleen Hudson • Brenda Hughes • Lt. Mary Krebs • Kim Meismer • Theresa Metcalf • Lucy Pearson • Tammy Prout • Bridget Symm • Brenda Thompson • Charvy Tork • Lora Walters • Mindy Wendele • Jayne Zirkel

And three groups whose contributions to this community — especially in the long shadow of the July 4, 2025 flood — deserve to be celebrated alongside them: the Women of Peterson Hospice, the Disaster Case Managers of the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, and the Women of the Hunt Preservation Society Community Allocation Committee.

This is a night to come together, raise a glass, and say thank you to women who have given so much of themselves to this place we all call home. We’d love to see you there.

Tickets are $42.50 (includes a $2.50 processing fee). Your ticket includes food catered by Cartewheels Catering, beer from Pint and Plow Brewing Company and wine from RIvenburg Wines.

Growing up in Southern California, Louis Amestoy remained connected to Texas as the birthplace of his father and grandfather. Texas was always a presence in the family’s life. Amestoy’s great-grandparents settled in San Antonio, Texas, drawn by the city’s connections to Mexico and the region’s German communities. In 2019, Louis Amestoy saw an opportunity to make a home in Texas. After 30 years of working for corporate media chains, Louis Amestoy saw a chance to establish an independent voice in the Texas Hill Country. He launched The Lead to be that vehicle. With investment from Meta, Amestoy began independently publishing on Aug. 9, 2021. The Amestoys have called Kerrville home since 2019.
