Abbott is confirmed to attend and will read the names of the 119 flood victims as the symphony performs Bach’s “Air on the G String,” dedicated to those lost and affected on July 4, 2025.

“The symphony concert celebrates our nation’s semiquincentennial and remembers the tragedy and heroic responses in our community,” said conductor and artistic director Dr. Eugene Dowdy, who said additional guest dignitaries have also been invited to take part.

Before the concert, the public can view nine original paintings of historic American flags by artist Robert R. “Bobby” Cahill. The “Freedom” series traces the flag’s changes since 1776 alongside the events that shaped them.

The program includes:

  • “Fanfare for the Common Man,” Aaron Copland
  • “God Bless America,” Irving Berlin (arr. Healey), with soprano Sarah Davis
  • “American Salute,” Morton Gould
  • “A Texas State of Mind,” Joe Stuessy
  • “Lincoln Portrait,” Aaron Copland, narrated by Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring
  • “Daughters of the American Revolution,” J. Bodewalt Lampe
  • “Air on the G String,” J.S. Bach — dedicated to those lost and affected on July 4, 2025

  • “God Bless the U.S.A.,” Lee Greenwood (arr. Lowden)
