The choir emphasizes the healing role of arts in the community, particularly after the flood, bringing “peace” and speaking “to the spirit.” The choir currently has about 50 singing members and performs mostly at Tucker Hall, but also with the Symphony of the Hills.

Plans include performing Handel’s “Messiah” this year. The organization seeks to expand and always needs more members, especially men (tenors and basses). Future plans include adding more ensembles, such as youth or children’s choirs, under its umbrella.

Due to the flood, the Chorale will start its season in October with a choral piece appropriate for a memorial, potentially Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “Pie Jesu.” The choir plans its season with the symphony.

Funding supports publicity, stipends for the director and accompanist, insurance, venue costs and purchasing music, with assistance from local foundations and donors.
