Sralla named Tivy High School principal
The new Tivy High School principal has 23 years of experience in both KISD and Ingram ISD, where he served as Ingram Middle School principal.
The Kerrville Independent School District is bringing back longtime educator Rick Sralla as the new principal at Tivy High School to replace Shelby Balser.
Sralla, currently principal at Ingram Middle School, was named Tivy principal during Monday night’s board of trustees meeting. Sralla spent most of his career as a teacher and administrator at KISD before becoming a principal at Ingram in 2021.
Sralla got his start teaching at Tivy High School in 2001 before taking on various administrative roles, including vice principal at Hal Peterson Middle School.
Balser was promoted to assistant superintendent earlier this year but remained principal until KISD named a replacement.
Replacing Sralla at Ingram Middle School is veteran educator Kayla Casey, the school’s vice principal. Casey came to Ingram simultaneously with Sralla to form the middle school’s leadership team.
Ingram ISD Superintendent Robert Templeton said he was confident in Casey’s deep experience guiding the school through the transition.
“Although she had only served as an assistant principal in Ingram, she came to us with a wealth of experience as a principal,” Templeton said. “She was a principal for a decade and knows the job very well. In my time working with her, I’m impressed with the way she nurtures and cares for kids, but also how well she keeps order and discipline when callon to do so.”
