9-11 remembrances highlight another busy week of events across Kerr County

From a trio of 9/11 remembrances to a flood-recovery book talk, farmers markets, wine, live music and more, here’s what’s happening around Kerr County this week.

9/11 remembrances mark the 25th anniversary

Friday brings three separate ways to mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, alongside a midweek event tied to Kerrville’s own flood recovery.

Flags of Honor opens at 8 a.m. Friday at the Hill Country Youth Event Center. A 9/11 ceremony follows at 8:45 a.m., and taps will play at sunset. Information at gunnyswarriors.com. (The field stays up through the weekend — a Flags of Honor Ceremony is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, and taps plays at sunset both Saturday and Sunday.)

Remembering 9/11: A Firsthand Account runs at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library.

Honor & Remember gathers at 5 p.m. Friday at Trailhead Beer Garden on the Schreiner University campus (2100 Memorial Blvd.). The program includes remembrance, brief remarks, and a drum and bugle corps performance, with Dr. Charlie McCormick speaking. Organizers say a food truck will be on site and a band plays at 7 p.m. Free and open to the public; more information at twv.hillcountry@gmail.com.

Two days earlier, Schreiner University’s Distinguished Lecture Series hosts “Deluge Before Dawn” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the CCAC Ballrooms. The event includes a reading and signing of the book, which recounts the July 4, 2025 Guadalupe River flood through the accounts of survivors, families and first responders.
