Schreiner women drop second straight, falls 3-0 to Texas Lutheran

Schreiner dropped its second consecutive match Thursday, falling 3-0 to Texas Lutheran in non-conference women’s soccer. The loss follows a 1-0 defeat to Concordia on Sunday and drops the Mountaineers to 0-2-0.
Texas Lutheran did all its scoring in the first half. Alejandra Lopez opened the game unassisted in the ninth minute, then set up Makenzie Ivie for a 2-0 lead in the 20th minute. Naiema Almaraz capped the scoring in the 44th minute off a Caitlin Roach assist, sending the Bulldogs into the break up 3-0. Neither team scored in the second half.
Texas Lutheran controlled play throughout, outshooting Schreiner 9-0 with a 6-0 edge in shots on goal and a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Schreiner goalkeeper Emilie Novasad played all 90 minutes and made three saves. Texas Lutheran used two goalkeepers, with Skylar LeBlanc and Alexis Morrison each playing 45 minutes; LeBlanc was credited with the win to improve to 1-0-0.
There were no cautions or ejections. Attendance was 185.
Texas Lutheran improved to 3-0-0; Schreiner fell to 0-2-0.
