Wednesday's special meeting of the Kerrville Independent School District board of trustees will be an evaluation and potential contract renewal for Superintendent Mark Foust.
The board will open the meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and then go into a closed executive decision before announcing what was discussed during that meeting. The meeting will happen at the district administration, 1009 Barnett St.
Despite the challenges of managing the school district during COVID-19, Foust has a heady list of accomplishments, including opening the spectacular new Hal Peterson Middle School.
While the district has suffered some academic setbacks, much of that is a nationwide trend attributed to the pandemic's disruption of traditional learning. Arguably, Foust's initial response to COVID-19 was impressive by guiding a rapid shift to online learning.
This week, the district expects to receive bids to sell its Sidney Baker Highway property, formerly the home of Tivy High School and Hal Peterson Middle School. With record-high prices, the proceeds of that sale could be an economic plus for the district.
