A 42-year-old Kerrville man was arrested Tuesday following an attempted robbery at Kerr County Federal Credit Union on Junction Highway.
George Washington Waring II was taken into custody without incident minutes after allegedly handing a note demanding money to a bank employee at the credit union in the 2300 block of Junction Highway around 12:51 p.m., according to the Kerrville Police Department.
No money was taken and no one was injured in the incident, police said.
Witnesses gave officers a description of the suspect, who left the credit union in a vehicle. Officers spotted the vehicle shortly afterward in the 700 block of Junction Highway and stopped it. Waring was the only person in the vehicle.
After an investigation, Waring was arrested and booked into Kerr County Jail on a robbery charge. He remained in custody Tuesday evening pending bond.
Kerr County Jail records show Waring has an extensive criminal history with more than 40 prior arrests dating back to 2001, including a previous robbery charge in 2010. He was most recently arrested in September on charges of bail jumping and violating bond conditions, and was released in November.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed. No other suspects are being sought.
