The week ahead: Folk fest winds down, summer camps gear up and Shakespeare takes the park
But the festival is far from the only thing going. Summer programming is kicking into gear across town — art camps at the Color of Clay, MOWA, HCAF and KACC are opening registration, and Schreiner University’s slate of tennis, robotics and volleyball camps starts filling up next week.
The longest party in the Hill Country is almost over. The Kerrville Folk Festival rolls into its final week at Quiet Valley Ranch, counting down from day 12 on Monday to the 18th-day finale Sunday night, when Bobby Bridger closes things out with “Heal in the Wisdom.” If you’ve been meaning to make it out to the ranch this year, the clock is running.
But the festival is far from the only thing going. Summer programming is kicking into gear across town — art camps at the Color of Clay, MOWA, HCAF and KACC are opening registration, and Schreiner University’s slate of tennis, robotics and volleyball camps starts filling up next week. Landowners along the Guadalupe should note the native plant giveaway at Mosty Brothers Nursery, with an RSVP deadline of June 8.
Theater fans get a free run of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” under the stars at Kerrville Schreiner Park on Friday and Saturday nights. The Butt-Holdsworth library is leaning into a Rick Riordan theme all week — a Percy Jackson scavenger hunt, the touring “Lightning Thief” production at the Arcadia, and plenty more for the kids. And Saturday is stacked: free park entry, Market Days, a daylong healing event at Howdy’s, farmers markets, wine events and Crider’s Rodeo out in Hunt.
Here’s everything on the calendar.
