Veterans Benefits Fair returns Sept. 3 — and won’t be back until 2028
The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Happy State Bank Expo Hall at the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 Texas 27. Admission and parking are free, door prizes will be given away every half hour, and two food trucks will be on site.
Kerr County’s biennial Veterans Benefits Fair returns Thursday, Sept. 3, bringing free dental care, mobility equipment repairs and one-stop access to benefits assistance for area veterans, their families and caregivers.
The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Happy State Bank Expo Hall at the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 Texas 27. Admission and parking are free, door prizes will be given away every half hour, and two food trucks will be on site.
“Our goal is to make it easier for veterans and their families to connect with the benefits, healthcare and community resources they have not only earned, but also deserve,” said Kerr County Veterans Service Officer Jenna Sanchez, whose office organizes the event.
Two specialized services headline this year’s fair. The UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry will provide dental screenings and select dental services on site for eligible veterans. And Project MEND will offer sanitizing, maintenance and minor repairs for mobility equipment, helping ensure wheelchairs and other devices remain safe and reliable.
Vendors and service providers will also offer information and hands-on assistance with VA benefits claims and healthcare enrollment, Texas Veterans Commission programs, Texas Veterans Land Board services, and mental health, employment, housing, education, burial and caregiver resources.
The fair is held only every two years, on the first Thursday in September — meaning the next one won’t come around until 2028. “Don’t miss this event,” Sanchez said.
For veterans who can’t make it, the Veterans Service Office remains a year-round, free resource. The office is in Suite 107 of the Allie Burton Annex, 550 Earl Garrett St., and is open Monday through Thursday. Walk-ins are accepted, though appointments get priority; call 830-792-2203 or email veterans.service@veterans.kerrcountytx.gov to schedule one.
