Nonprofit Week 2025: Doyle Community Center

Board President Natarsha Sanders and Executive Director Rae Cardenas represent the Doyle Community Center, recognized as a community staple and beacon that fosters connectivity and provides a safe, comfortable space for residents.
Reopened Aug. 1, 2017, the center maintains various community programs, senior activities and outreach initiatives. It also focuses on youth, adult education and community health, including physical and mental wellness.

In response to the recent disaster, the center offered its space to people needing temporary or permanent housing after the flood. As a pastor, Sanders offered spiritual support during this time by listening, offering comfort and encouraging a “one moment at a time” approach to cope with trauma.
Cardenas, a born-and-raised community member, serves as executive director, supported by a unified board. The center relies on long-standing community figures like Lois Shaw, Clifton Fifer and Lala Flores.
