Schreiner University homecoming, a three-day reggae festival at Roddy Tree and the 20th annual Hill Country Golf Classic lead a week that runs from Monday through Sunday without a quiet night. Add the season’s first Front Porch Friday at the Heart of the Hills Heritage Center, a free Shakespeare production on campus and a full slate of First Friday gatherings, and there’s something on the calendar for just about everyone.
On the stage
Schreiner University’s theater program opens a free run of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” at the Hanszen Theater, with shows at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and a 2:30 p.m. matinee Sunday. Seating is limited, so reservations are recommended at schreiner.universitytickets.com.
The Cailloux Theater is dark this week after Jake Hoot’s Sept. 26 show, but it comes roaring back next week. The Symphony of the Hills opens its 2026-27 season Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. with “Webber and Brahms,” pairing a symphonic suite from “The Phantom of the Opera” — featuring tenor Brandon Morales and soprano Bronwyn White — with Brahms’ Symphony No. 1. Playhouse 2000’s Green Room Project returns Friday, Oct. 9, with a “Ghost Stories” reading night in the Werlein Annex Studio (doors at 7:30 p.m., readings at 8 p.m.), and the tribute show Sixtiesmania plays one performance Sunday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. Tickets for all three are at caillouxperformingarts.com or 830-896-9393.
At The Arcadia
Looking ahead, The Arcadia’s Iconic Film Series screens “Young Frankenstein” Wednesday, Oct. 7 — admission is free thanks to sponsor Art2Heart, with a Halloween costume contest — and Honky Cat Dueling Pianos plays a free show Saturday, Oct. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. Reservations are at thearcadialive.org.
Homecoming on the hill
Schreiner’s homecoming weekend kicks off Friday at 7 p.m. with Justin Gallegos at Trailhead Beer Garden, followed by a pep rally. Saturday brings a 3 p.m. tailgate at Trailhead before the Mountaineers take on Hendrix at 6 p.m. at Antler Stadium. Schreiner volleyball is also home all week, hosting Texas Lutheran Tuesday at 6 p.m., Hardin-Simmons Thursday at 4 p.m. and McMurry Friday at 5 p.m.
Front Porch Friday and First Friday
The Heart of the Hills Heritage Center launches Front Porch Friday at 5 p.m. — a free monthly gathering celebrating Hispanic heritage with music, art, food and the center’s Hispanic Heritage exhibit. Elsewhere Friday evening, Kerrville Hills Winery at Schreiner hosts its First Friday Supper Club at 6 p.m., The Ridge Marketplace holds its First Friday Wine Share from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and KACC hosts an artist reception for Aurora Joleen at 2 p.m.
Reggae on the Guadalupe
Lazy Days Canteen at Roddy Tree hosts Reggae on the Guadalupe Fest Friday through Sunday, with Necheru, Dog Beach Rebels, The Maplewood Brothers, The Reefs and others across multiple stages. Gates open Friday at 5 p.m., and camping is included with admission.
Saturday’s full plate
Saturday morning brings the Riverside Nature Center Native Plant Sale and the 36th annual Fall Exotic Game Sale at the YO Ranch Headquarters, both at 9 a.m., along with both farmers markets — the Hill Country Heritage Farmers Market on Junction Highway and the Heart of the Hills Farmers Market on Water Street — from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The evening is fundraiser-heavy, with the Kerr County 4-H Wild Game Dinner at the Hill Country Youth Event Center and KPSF Tailgate Trivia at the Inn of the Hills, both at 5:30 p.m. Patsy Torres headlines the Notre Dame Festival concert at 5:30 p.m. at Notre Dame School.

KACC’s Ghost Tours return to downtown Kerrville starting Friday, running Fridays and Saturdays through October at 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. Sovereignty Ranch opens its Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch Thursday, running through Nov. 1. Danville Chadbourne’s new works open Friday at MixHaus Gallery in Comfort. Continuing exhibits include “The Enchanted West of Adrienne Stein” at the Museum of Western Art, HCAF’s “Nature’s Bounty” gourd art show through Oct. 9, and KACC’s fall exhibits through Oct. 16.
Earlier in the week, the Texas Master Naturalist Hill Country Chapter meets Monday at 7 p.m. at the Guadalupe Basin Natural Resource Center, where Heart of Texas Conservancy Executive Director Ben Eldredge presents “Putting Ecological Solutions to Work.” Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library’s week includes the Friends of the Library Book Sale Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a Historical Fiction Book Club discussion of “Hamnet” Thursday at noon.
