Schreiner women rally to tie Texas A&M-San Antonio 2-2

The two goals were Schreiner’s first of the season and its most in a match since an Oct. 3, 2025, 4-2 win over LeTourneau.

Schreiner erased a second-half deficit Saturday, scoring twice in the final half-hour to tie Texas A&M University-San Antonio 2-2 at Jaguar Soccer Field in San Antonio.

Kailey Ellsworth put Schreiner ahead in the 58th minute on an unassisted goal. Texas A&M-San Antonio answered twice within four minutes — Chloe Lombard scored in the 65th minute, assisted by Emely Santos, then added an unassisted goal in the 68th minute to put the Jaguars up 2-1. Abigail Scott tied it for Schreiner in the 81st minute on an unassisted goal.

The two goals were Schreiner’s first of the season and its most in a match since an Oct. 3, 2025, 4-2 win over LeTourneau. Saturday’s tie also snapped a two-match losing streak that opened the season with a 1-0 loss to Concordia on Aug. 30 and continued with Thursday’s 3-0 loss to Texas Lutheran.

Schreiner outshot Texas A&M-San Antonio 20-10, including a 10-5 edge in shots on goal, and held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Emilie Novasad made three saves in a full 90 minutes. Texas A&M-San Antonio’s Saarah Jass made eight saves in a full 90 minutes of her own.

Texas A&M-San Antonio’s Albane Rosa was shown a yellow card in the 88th minute. There were no other cautions or ejections.

Both teams moved to 0-1-1.

Schreiner won 25-20, 25-16, 17-25, 25-23, improving to 1-1 in non-conference play. Redlands, the California-based opponent, fell to 0-1. It was Schreiner’s second match in three days in San Antonio, following Tuesday’s four-set loss to Trinity.
