We need a sponsor for Kerrville's Christmas Tree Lighting celebration! Who can step up?

After a sponsor says they can't do it, the Kerrville Christmas Lighting Corp. is looking for a new presenting sponsor.

We've got an emergency, folks — a Christmas crisis.

George Eychner, who heads the Kerrville Christmas Lights Corp., needs a new presenting sponsor for the tree lighting ceremony held after the Nov. 19 Lighted Christmas Parade.

One of the biggest expenses for the event is the lighting and sound equipment, Eychner said in an email. The group needs to raise about $5,000 to present the lighting, which includes plenty of great music.

"The sound and lights set up last year were $2,500, so it would be nice to see if there is a cheaper acceptable alternative," Eychner wrote.

Eychner is also proposing lighting the tree first before a Christmas-themed concert. All ideas are open as we fast-approach the Lighted Christmas Parade.

If you're interested in the parade here are some key details:

  • Entry packets with parade rules and regulations can be found online at www.kerrvilletx.gov or picked up in person at the Parks and Recreation Department office at 2385 Bandera Hwy.
  • The fee to participate in the parade is $30 per entry. All entry forms and payments must be submitted to the Parks and Recreation Department no later than Friday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m.
  • Beginning Nov. 5, late registration will be accepted until noon on Nov. 11. Late registration will be $45 per entry. Entries will NOT be accepted after the late registration deadline.
  • The parade is limited to the first 100 entries, so be sure to reserve your spot now! Please remember – each entry must be completely lit for nighttime viewing.
