In Loving Memory of Zan Sherrill Toledo
A Life of Love, Laughter, and Unwavering Faith
Zan Sherrill Toledo, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 82, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, and love.
Born in Kerrville, Texas, to Clovis Dalton McDonald and Margaret Jane Jones McDonald, Zan lived a life rich in stories, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Above all, she was a mother. Her three sons, Clovis Ray, Allen Wayne, and Aaron Beau, were among her greatest blessings. She loved them fiercely, defended them without hesitation, and carried the title of mother with a pride that never faded.
Zan had a remarkable gift for storytelling and a sense of humor that could brighten even the dullest day. She could captivate a room with her stories, bring laughter to an ordinary moment, and leave people with memories they would carry for years. Those who knew her will remember her quick wit, her laughter, and the unmistakable personality that made her uniquely Zan.
When it came to her boys, Zan was a true mama bear. She was fiercely protective, deeply devoted, and always ready to stand up for those she loved. Family meant everything to her, and she expressed that love in countless ways, especially through her cooking. She found joy in preparing meals for her family, bringing everyone together around the table, where good food, conversation, and laughter created memories that would last a lifetime.
Zan also possessed an extraordinary work ethic. Dependable and dedicated, she took pride in her responsibilities. She was never late and rarely missed a day of work. Her determination and commitment reflected the strength of character that defined so much of her life.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Zan found comfort, purpose, and belonging in her faith and church family. Her beliefs remained an important part of her life. Although saying goodbye to those she loved was difficult, she held close the promise of a joyful reunion with loved ones on the other side.
Zan was preceded in death by her parents, Clovis Dalton McDonald and Margaret Jane Jones McDonald.
She leaves behind her three beloved sons: Clovis Ray Kell and his wife, Diane, of Missouri; Allen Wayne Kell, of Missouri; and Aaron Beau Toledo and his wife, Samantha, of Kerrville, Texas.
Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Clovis Ray Jr., Lindsey, Vallie, Sarah, Mary, Miranda, Beau, Dalton, and Noah; her four great-grandchildren; and her three nieces. She is also survived by her beloved younger sister, Karlynn Holland.
Zan’s life was not measured simply by the years she lived, but by the stories she told, the laughter she shared, the meals she prepared, and the fierce, unwavering love she gave her family.
Though her absence will be deeply felt, the memories she created will remain woven into the lives of those who knew and loved her. Her stories will be retold, her laughter remembered, and her love carried forward through the generations she leaves behind.
May she rest peacefully, reunited with those who went before her, until the day her loved ones meet her again.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
Visitation will be held at 10 AM, followed by services at 11 AM, Monday, November 2, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kerrville. Burial will follow at Harper Cemetery.
