Owen Hugh Graham: Feb. 22, 1944-Sept. 8, 2026

Owen Hugh Graham, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2026.

Born on February 22, 1944, in San Angelo, Texas, to Joy Sanderson Graham and Owen Hugh Graham, Owen spent his early childhood years living in Menard, Texas, alongside his mother and sister while his father was serving in World War II. In 1950, the family moved to the Panama Canal Zone, a place from where he would recount lifelong, fond memories of independently exploring the countryside on his bicycle with friends. The family returned to Texas in 1956 when Owen Graham Sr. took a job with the USDA office in Kerrville. The Hill Country became home, a place of cherished memories and idyllic 1950s America- harrowing paper routes on scooter, local jobs at the lumberyard, and the formation of lifelong friendships.  A proud alumnus of Tivy High School, Owen graduated with the Class of ’61. He went on to attend Schreiner College for a year before transferring to Texas A&M University, laying the groundwork for a lifelong passion for design and architecture.

Following college, Owen lived in Corpus Christi, where his eldest son, Stuart, was born. Brief chapters in San Antonio and Austin followed, welcoming son Matthew. True to his adventurous spirit, in 1974 he purchased a Land Rover and drove all the way to Costa Rica. By 1976, he returned to his roots in Kerrville and married Rosibel, with whom he would welcome sons Christian, Paul, and Joshua.

Owen established a successful architecture practice, leaving a lasting mark on the region through the many commercial buildings, residences, banks, and churches. Later in his career, he particularly enjoyed designing creative and distinct custom homes, but largely enjoyed becoming good friends with many of his clients living in the area. 

Beyond his drafting table, Owen was a private pilot with a deep-seated love for aviation, holding a stake in two planes during the 1980s, charting trips with friends in Cessna O-1 Bird Dogs, and incorporating hangar projects into home design. Later years brought back beloved high school days, with weekly breakfasts with friends and the cherished annual High School reunions.  Above all, nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his family. He would burst with pride when talking about his sons.  He rarely missed a Graham family reunion, despite the Texas heat each July.  And, he never missed an opportunity to be with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Joy, and his brother-in-law, Dennis Brown. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosibel; his sons, Stuart, Matthew (and wife Erin), Christian, Paul (and wife Laura), and Joshua (and wife Hailee); his older sister, Georgia Brown; his younger sister, Elena Williamson (and husband Trent); and his younger brother, Andy Graham (and wife Darlene). He also leaves behind a cherished legacy in his grandchildren: David, Elizabeth (Annie), Noah, Penelope (Penny), Jack, Webb, Palmer, and one more grandson due to arrive in November, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville, 728 Jefferson St., Kerrville, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Cottage of Dallas, TX.
