He worked as a ranch foreman and lab tech for Dr. H.L. Risinger at the High Rafter Ranch for 40 years. He also worked for Dr. Brad Risinger for many years at Risinger Orthodontics.
Jose Angel Duarte, 92, of Kerrville passed away on September 20, 2026, in Kerrville. He was born in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico to Cruz and Anastasia Duarte on August 2, 1934. He married Petra Martinez on July 4, 1966, in Bandera, TX.
He worked as a ranch foreman and lab tech for Dr. H.L. Risinger at the High Rafter Ranch for 40 years. He also worked for Dr. Brad Risinger for many years at Risinger Orthodontics.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Cruz and Anastasia Duarte; son, Andrew Duarte; and brother, Antonio Duarte.
Survivors include wife, Petra; sons, Thomas and Bobby Duarte; daughters, Angela (Elias) Moreno and Sheila (Michael) Espinoza; brothers, Felix, Lalo, Dionisio and Jorge Duarte; sisters, Teresa, Rosa, Lupe, Lucha, Elodia and Fransica; 14 grandchildren;18 great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service, on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Deacon Jimmy Bill. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert, Levi Duarte, Benjamin Duarte, Elias Moreno III, Brian and Noah Espinoza, Cruz Duarte and Lucas Duarte.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Peterson Regional Medical Center, 2 West and ICU Dr. Robert Mitchell. Special thanks to his granddaughter, Cheyenne, for everything she did for Dad.

She attended plays, tennis matches, volleyball games, hemmed dresses, babysat, played games that ended with her getting whipped cream in the face, threw snowballs, played dress up; she did everything a Mimi is supposed to do and more, and she always did it with a smile on her face and joy in her heart, no matter what the cost.

Susie, or Memo as family and close friends knew her, was a strong, fearless and hardworking woman. Serving as the matriarch of the family since the death of her husband in 1985, she strove to lift her people up and seek out knowledge, ideas, and experiences.
