Diane Catherine Hawkins, 93, of Ingram, passed peacefully Sunday, October 11, 2026.

She was born in Faribault, Minnesota, to Sidney and Catherine Rech Davis on January 28, 1933. Her family moved to Albuquerque where she graduated from Highland High School in 1950. While attending The University of New Mexico, Diane met her husband of 62 years, Carl Hawkins. They married March 4, 1952. Moving to several locations around the country while with the US Navy and then The Boy Scouts of America, they finally settled in the Kerrville area in the early 1960’s where they raised their six boys.

Sharing in her love for children and the great outdoors, Diane and Carl owned Heart of The Hills Camp for Girls where she helped manage the business as well as operate the ever-famous camp store. She did the same after they sold HOH and bought Camp Rio Vista in 1977. It is here that Diane was lovingly known as Grandma to many more than just her own grandchildren.

With her selfless demeanor, Diane was a devoted volunteer in many charitable communities. A lifelong member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, she served on several committees, volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul and the church office weekly. She then took her desire to serve at St. Peter upon the Water Spiritual Retreat Center where you could find her smiling face every Wednesday and some weekends.

Along with other organizations and businesses, Diane worked on staff as well as serving as a volunteer at Peterson Regional Hospital for twenty years.

Her real passion was in sports, especially team sports. Diane was a member of The Kerrville Bowling League and played doubles Tennis as well as Pickleball well into her 80s. This love extended to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as she was known to rarely miss a home game or event of any kind. She received recognition by the Ingram Tom Moore High School Athletics on her 90th birthday as the most devoted fan.

Diane “Grandma” was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Erwin and Dixie Davis; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Barb Davis; sons, Corey, Freddie and Chuck; grandson, Chris; great-granddaughter, Eliza Reign Acker; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her children, John (Kathy), Craig (Rhonda) and Jimmie (Suzanne); daughters-in-law, Chaille Leep (Michael) and Kim Enderlin (Kevin); sister-in-law, Terri Anne McCormick; numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Justin (Diane), Ashley Henry (Nathan), Hunter (Allegra), Matthew, Chad (Shonda), Sabra Holmes, Carroll Schuler (Zach), Michael (Elizabeth), Cadi Acker (Henry), Corey (Sara), Bryce (Sarah) and Taylor; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as all those who know who you are that may as well be family.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Bishop Michael Boulette officiating.
