Mildred Crenshaw: Aug. 16, 1929-Oct. 3, 2026

She and her husband, Jake, enjoyed going to Lake Mathis and Matagora Bay fishing and camping. They enjoyed catching catfish, red fish and crappies.

Mildred Elizabeth Guthrie Crenshaw was born on August 16, 1929, and left this world peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3rd, 2026, at age 97. She was born to Clarence Young Guthrie and Myrtle Ford Guthrie, the youngest of 7. She was a banker, bookkeeper, election worker and homemaker.

She and her husband, Jake, enjoyed going to Lake Mathis and Matagora Bay fishing and camping. They enjoyed catching catfish, red fish and crappies.

Mildred loved sewing, participating in 4H leadership doing wool and mohair competitions with her daughters and porcelain painting. She would always find time being creative and making new masterpieces.

Mildred loved her family and spending time with them along with a love for gardening. With the produce from their efforts, she spent time canning and cooking amazing meals.

She would help with Cowboy Camp meeting serving food and providing services where needed. Teaching vacation bible school at First Baptist Church in Ingram was a past time she also enjoyed.

She and her husband would host family reunions where all family felt loved and would come from all over. Her home was always open to all who knew her. To know her was to love her.

Mildred was a direct, sassy, loving, and a completely honest woman and you always knew where you stood.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. (Jake) Crenshaw of 59 years; parents, Clarence Young Guthrie and Myrtle Ford Guthrie; her siblings, Red, Louise, Evelyn, Frances, Glen, and Bill; and grandson, Jason W Plant.

She is survived by daughter, Arlene Sauer, and husband Vernon; daughter, Janet Brown and husband David; granddaughter, Misty Gordon and husband Wes; granddaughter Ashley Natus and husband Ben; and many, many loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with funeral services held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00 am at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Burial to follow at Nichols Cemetery immediately afterwards.

Pallbearers include David Brown, Wes Gordon, Ben Natus, Riley Gordon, Bailey Gordon, Braeden Natus with honorary pallbearer, Vernon Sauer.
