“Dr. Goodwyn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position, and I look forward to him continuing serving our students in this role,” said Dr. Charlie McCormick, President.

Goodwyn has served as the interim dean of students since last fall. Before that, he was dean of the first-year experience and the assistant dean of students.

During 18 years with Schreiner University, Goodwyn has also served as assistant dean of leadership and student engagement, director of campus recreation, and has taught several academic courses for the university in exercise science, psychology, and freshman studies.

“Throughout my career at Schreiner, I have been fortunate to help grow the campus in many areas, including orientation, athletics, academics, advising, and student life,” Goodwyn said. “I now look forward to stepping into the role of Dean of Students and continue working with all areas of campus. Schreiner is a special place, where students can explore and have an opportunity to experience moments that will grow them as a person now and prepare them for meaningful work and purposeful lives.”

Goodwyn grew up in Kerrville, graduating from Tivy High School and Schreiner University, where he played soccer and earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. He earned his master’s in kinesiology from the University of Texas Permian Basin and a doctorate in psychology with an emphasis in mediation and conflict resolution from the University of the Rockies.
