Sylvia P. Zuniga passed away on October 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of those whose lives she touched so deeply. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and the way she made everyone feel like family. Her home was a place of comfort, love, and acceptance, where no one was ever made to feel left behind.
Born on July 04, 1957, in Mathis, Texas to Alfredo Pena and Virgina Puentes. She married Antonio Ayala Zuniga in 1983 in Victoria, Texas.
Sylvia had a passion for arts and crafts and loved expressing herself through colorful and creative projects. Her creativity reflected the joy she brought to others, and she found happiness in making beautiful things and sharing them with the people she loved.
To so many, her house was simply known as “Mom’s House.” It was a place where countless memories were made, laughter was shared, and many people found a home, whether for a day or for a season of their lives. Her heart was always welcoming and her doors always stayed open. She welcomed everyone with love, kindness, and understanding.
She leaves behind a legacy of love that will carry on through her husband, Antonio Zuniga; children, Freddy Carranza, David Salinas, Belinda Ramos, Lucy Barron, Amy Pena, Virginia Pena, Marcial Gonzales, Edvardo Gonzales, and Dora Ayala; her siblings, Rosa Flores, Pancha Lopez and Roberto Pena; grandchildren, Steven Jimenez, Celeste Jimenez, Jose Zuniga, Aurelio Barron, Carlos Barron, Juan Barron, Joan Barron, Uriel Barron, Briseyda Barron, Ulises Barron, Daniel Pena, Mya Juarez, Abigail Juarez, Heaven Juarez, Mark Salinas, Aurora Salinas, Jazmine Salinas, Silvia Salinas, Jacob Salinas, Marlena Ureste, Freddy Curry, Nathan Castillo, Trae Gonzales, Luna Mae Gonzales, Enzo Gonzales, Myles Gonzales, Olivia Gonzales, Elliott Gonzales, Daline Sanabria, Nathaniel Sanabria, Xadrian Castillo and Azelea Castillo; great grandchildren, Karla Mae Gonzales, Amy Jimenez, Rominaa Jimenez, Daniel Jimenez, Pricilla Barron, Nayeli Barron, Luke Pena, D’Angelo Ramirez and Zalayah Sanabria.
Preceded in death by grandchildren, Israel Jimenez, Mica Salinas, and Ariana Barron; her siblings, Juan Pena, Narcisco Pena, Raymondo Pena, Lalo Pena, Antonio Pena, Theodore Pena, Yolanda Flores, Neno Flores, Elida Lara, and Tencha Rosales.
Although her physical presence is no longer with us, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain forever. The emptiness left by her passing will be deeply felt, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be dearly missed and always lovingly remembered.
